Totally Should’ve Book Tag is another book tag that I’ve found on YouTube and stolen for us to discuss.
Let’s get right into it!
Warning: casual language lol
1. Totally should’ve gotten a sequel
Pride and Prejudice. I have to say that the ending was whole and satisfying in itself but I really would have loved to read more about their married life. How they tackled certain stigmas and how long Bingley’s puppy love actually lasted.
2. Totally should’ve had a spin-off series
Harry Potter series.
I know that we’re now getting screenplays and actual plays but I really would like a proper spin-off series and I do have a few characters in mind. I would love to know more about Dumbledore’s past. Dealing with his childhood, mainly. When he was a student in Hogwarts, flirting around with boys his age and ace-ing all his classes of course but also being all kinds of mischievous.
3. Totally should’ve stopped at book one
The Selection Series.
I’ve posted a long rant about how turning this one simple (very average) story into a trilogy was complete a waste of paper but I’ll say it again. There is not enough going on in this story for it to be a trilogy! The ending is a mess and all the loose ends have been tied up in a very unsatisfactory manner. That is if they are tied up. A waste of time.
4. A character who totally should’ve ended up with someone else
Harry potter and Luna.
Sentence me to Azkaban for this, I don’t care but I’m talking about the movie series rather than the book series. Movie Harry and movie Luna had electric chemistry and totally should’ve ended up together.
5. Totally should’ve ended differently
Before I Fall.
I can’t think of any book series that I wished to change the ending of except this one. Slightly.
6. Totally should’ve had a movie franchise
Illuminae. These books are the most unique and ‘visual’ books around, these days. With such an action packed, gripping, smooth sailing story line, I’m surprised that it has not been made into a movie yet. Fear not. Brad Pitt and Warner Bros. are on it.
7. Totally should’ve had a TV show
The first book got a movie and it was a flop because this story does not work as a 2-hour long movie. We need at least 24 episodes per season and oh so many seasons. Maybe even a Bloodlines spin-off.
I guess we won’t anymore since vampires are ‘out of fashion’ these days. I do hope it’ll make a comeback someday.
Just like chokers and mom jeans.
8. Totally should’ve had only one point of view
Allegiant. I have no intention of finishing the last 100 pages of this book anytime soon but I’ve not DNF(ed) it. Yet.
Somebody spoiled the ending for me and it crushed my soul like you would, a coke can after you’re done drinking it.
Yup. That’s exactly how I feel about it.
Another reason why I still could not push through was that the book had multiple point of views.
I always loved Four as a character but the second I read from his point of view, I found him to be so catastrophically plain. Veronica did not do him justice and frankly, I could’ve done without this extra element in the book. You don’t just change the way you’ve been writing a series just because you feel like it.
9. Totally should have a cover change
Bloodlines. The books are so beautiful and intense but look at the covers!
I would not pick that up in a bookstore. Nope.
10. Totally should’ve kept the original covers
Across The Universe. The third book in the series: Shades of Earth does not match the color scheme of the first two books. So much so, that it looks ridiculous next to them.
Judge for yourself.
